This was my first 3D Xynthica, fully rigged and animated for the film A Natural At Disaster which was done in Maya. I was very proud of this film, and especially this model, as although it didn't travel to end as far as quantity was concerned, to the best of my expectations at the time, the quality of the it film had turned out the way I had wanted it to. This is something that almost always seem to go out the window on a student's film, that is, the process between concept and execution, and the model actually turned out better than the original concept sketches I did.

This is an original poster for the film, Xyni never actually takes on this specific pose. Back then, I was very short on time, so I had to use some very cheap lens flares to cover up some rendering collisions. Giving Xynthica those arm wings might look really pretty, but they caused animation problems like you wouldn't believe. The lens flares worked great though in effect for the time and effort invested in them.

On this entire model, there is only one texture map, and that's the eyes. I was pretty happy with that, because a lot of people relied on heavy textures to cover up their modeling mistakes and to give some extra eye candy. All of the faces of the polys on this model were colored by different materials, no image maps needed.

I wanted the film to have a childish, simple feel to it. It fit the bill quite nicely, but I still wish that I could have textured the hair. An interesting note should be that all of the parts of this model have weird names like "Angel Whisper", "Icing Ring" or "Cup Cake", not exactly professional, but it made sure that only I would understand it. As another note, this was essentially the first 3D model that I ever created in 3D from scratch. The learning curve was very steep. At the time, I used to name my files with a letter from the Greek alphabet. I ran out of those and started to use any random word that popped into my head, like "Xynthica Peony Pink". It was a lot of fun.

I could actually create a huge arsenal of images from the models and set I created, especially some of the theatre and Kojaku, but I personally don't like making it a habit of stepping back into my old work when I could move forward, so there will be just one of these for now unless people want more.

I really want to do another 3D Xynthica model sometime with textures. With what I know now, it will be much better.
