Ah, here we have the ever energetic
Kiri and her magical "Word Sword". People who
have seen this image ask me occasionally what's with the
"w00t" on it. Well, there's a story to that.
Originally, I was a pretty big anti-fan of internet abbreviations.
It's a rare day in hell that you'll see me use internet
slang on this site, particularly acronyms, although I
hate to attribute that to the sheer length of some of
my writings. In any case, I'm a fast typer, so I generally
take the long way around, however, there are some fabulously
contagious slang out there that are far more valuable
as a whole than the sum of their parts. "w00t"
is such a word.
Now, you might have a hard time believing that
a long winding writer like me would like the word "w00t",
especially since I have a bit of a vendetta against people
who write entire paragraphs in "1337" , if only
because I can't read them, but w00t is the only exception,
because it has evolved pass being just a convenient misspelled
abbreviation and has taken on a cultural meaning all onto
itself.
What I love the most about "w00t" is
it's viral reputation and the mysterious history behind
it that has taken shape through internet culture, despite
no one knowing it's through origin. It is in essence,
a child born from the form of global communication and
interaction. Although there are several
other words that have done this, I personally feel that
none compare to the sheer beauty and energy of "w00t",
and I have fond memories of the word in utilization, as
a result, I decided to make Kiri heavily associated with
the word. Oh yeah, for those careful observers, that actually
is a slower case "w" on the Word Sword, it just
seems bigger because of the perspective and the font I
used.
