I personally have no passion for drawing mecha. In North America, right after lens flares and spaceships, giant robots are the last thing that employers are looking for in a portfolio. They do look good though, because it is really easy to put accurate detail on them because they are solid objects, unlike the pleats of a girls' skirt or the contraction of twisting muscles.

I just don't really have the technical mind for mecha drawing. Some really impressive mecha designers can name every single part that goes into the design and actually explain it so that it makes logical sense, I just don't have the same mechanical mind. I admire people who can do that though.

This drawing turned out okay, being the one I did directly after the MIA robot. The only thing I would correct are the eyes, one is clearly at a different angle than the other, and it looks weird no matter how you think about it. The hands also didn't turn out too good, but oh well, you give some time, you take some time.

This robot has no name, so I just called it Alpha Mecha as a place holder.
