This drawing is a joke about why I don't
draw western style super heroes, because if I did they'd look
just like this.
The pose is about as dynamic as a stick of wood. In the
western super hero comic world, this is absolutely taboo, super
heroes have to, and I mean even when they are shaving their armpits,
look angry in a dynamic pose, even better if they have white eyes
and looking directly at the viewer, cause that just makes it that
much more American.
Maybe this and the other one aren't absolute monstrosities,
but it does show that I just don't have the eye for what makes
good western style super heroes as of yet. I'd like to give it
a bit more of a swing in the future. I'll try to draw anything
at least once. Who knows, with a little practice, I might actually
start to like it.
If you have a trained eye, you probably noticed that
my practices in manga style collide with it's essential opposite
properties on the western side, like the rather large head and
lack of shoulder width. That's what happens sometimes when you
are used to drawing more in one way than another. It's a good
practice to expand the mind and loosen up habits this way, but
it can become a bit discouraging at first.
At least I can now say that I did at least two western
style super hero drawings in my life if anyone ever asks. That's
probably the only reason why they are on this site.
