Xynthica
FAQ
At some point in designing my site, I made
a solemn vow that I would only make a FAQ if people actually did ask
questions frequently, instead of just pulling random information of
a magic hat and stuffing it down people's throats. Then it occurred
to me much, much later, that whenever I get an e-mail, they seem to
ask the really obscure and weird questions, it's never the obvious
tuna smacking the head kinda' ones, and that's why this crash course
FAQ was created... because anybody who can read the entire Xynipedia
in one sitting is insane.
| What is Xynthica? |
Xynthica is actually many things, brand
name marketing does that to you. Specifically, Xynthica is
the name of my main character, who happens to be a blue haired
biped of anime orientation and the mascot of this site.
Xynthica is often shortened to just Xyni,
and this is usually how I differentiate the character from
all of it's other contexts, seeing as how this site is called
Xynthica, the story is called Xynthica, and if I had a kitten
for a pet, I'd probably name her Xynthica too.
To find out more information on Xynthica and
the world she lives in, please visit the Xynipedia. |
| Who's the Artist? |
Heya, my name is Merritt "Zephos" Wong, but you
can call my whatever part of that name that you like. Just
don't call me "Mr. Wong", that's usually my cue
to hang up the phone and trash the spam. I was born on 1983,
am male, have a steamed crab and a cooked pig in my horoscope,
and I have no idea what my blood type is, although I'm hoping
AB. I like caltrops and cactuses, but hate ginger and giant
shrimp. I have studied western style illustration, animation
and Japanese anime/manga methodology as my main style, and
also have sturdy experience working with 3D computer generated
imagery. To find out more detailed information about me, please
visit the Profile page.
Similar to the case of Xynthica up there, I named another
one of my main characters Zephos. Fortunately, I tend to refer
to myself, me and I, as pretty much myself, me and I, so those
two don't get confused too often. |
| What's The Deal With This Site? |
This site was created sometime in the middle of the year
2004. Unlike the original Xynthica formal and monochrome site
design, I decided to make this one with ridiculously colorful
with huge images. Doing such a thing usually goes against
the common sense of site design, but I figured that if I was
going to make a site, I'd make one that reflects my twisted
personality, or lack there of. I'm thinking someday of making
a counter Xynthica site someday that's like an evil version
of this one, as seem to like to draw things that are either
extremely cute, or disturbingly horrific.
This site is made with the intention of promoting and sharing
both my writing and my visual arts with the internet community.
As a greater goal, it also doubles as my portfolio for employment,
and my journal for reflection and self expression. |
| What's At This Site? |
Although this site has several attractions, the main gun
of the place is the Gallery, which exhibits all of my work,
divided into six categories, Complete,
Sketchbook,
Formal, Misc,
Workshop and
Design.
There is also the Literature
section, which contains information on Xynthica in the Character
Guide and the Xynipedia, as
well as "Messays" and write ups on animation and
art culture. |
| Do you do Commissions? |
You bet! Commissions
are a great way to take a break from the everyday routine and
gain experience, as long as I'm not in the middle of a project,
I'd love to work on them. |
